Newsletters & Memberships

We're introducing newsletters & memberships to Hyvor Talk along with email custom domain, email branding, LLM spam detection, and more.

Dear Hyvor Talk Community,

We're thrilled to announce a major update to our platform, introducing several exciting new features and improvements:

Important updates:

Why newsletters & memberships?

When we launched Hyvor Blogs last year, we were thrilled to see how many of you loved the integrated Hyvor Talk commenting system. But we also noticed something: many of you were still using separate tools for newsletters and memberships. We thought, "Why not bring everything under one roof?"

So, we’ve been hard at work, and now Hyvor Talk offers newsletters to send emails to your subscribers and memberships to add paid subscriptions to your website.

Newsletter

First, a form to collect emails from your subscribers:

Then, an easy way to craft your newsletters and send them to your audience:

Finally, view all the important metrics of your issue:

Our email-sending pricing is one of the lowest in the industry:

Hyvor Talk

~$0.5 (5,000 credits)

Email custom domain & Branding

Introducing custom domain email support for Business plan subscribers. You can now send email notifications and newsletters from your own domain, improving brand consistency and professionalism. This feature applies to both our existing notification system and the new newsletter functionality.

Visit Email Custom Domain documentation for more details.

Previously, email branding was only available to Business plan subscribers. Now, it is available to all users. Also, all emails now adapt to your website color settings.

LLM-based Spam Detection

We have integrated Fortguard, our spam detection API, into Hyvor Talk. It uses Large Language Models to analyze comments to detect spam.

  • Contextual spam detection

  • Language-based spam detection

  • Country-based spam detection

Please note: FortGuard is an opt-in feature. To protect your privacy, we do not share any of your data with third-party LLM providers (such as OpenAI) unless you explicitly enable FortGuard in your settings.

Visit our Spam Detection docs for more details.

Brand new website & Console

We've refreshed Hyvor Talk's look as part of our broader Hyvor Design System. You'll notice a sleek new design and updated font across the platform. We hope you find it both visually appealing and user-friendly.

We'd love to hear your thoughts - how do you like the new design?

Other updates

Here are some additional updates included in this release:

  • Hyvor Talk version 2 is no longer supported. The version 2 code will try to load the v3 embed. View Migrate to V3 for more details.

  • Comment embed accessibility improvements

  • View reactions and ratings in the Console

  • Improved analytics in the Console

  • Media management in the Console

  • New webhook events for media, votes, reactions, etc.

Pricing changes

Along with these new features, we have changed our pricing structure:

  • Terminology Change: "Pageviews" are now called "Credits"

  • Plan Limits: Credit limits remain identical to previous pageview limits

  • Credits are consumed on multiple events as explained on our pricing page.

  • Changes for existing customers: previously, pageviews were only counted when the comments section was loaded. Starting from the 1st of October, the following events are also billable:

    • Comment counts embed (0.5 credits)

    • Akismet Spam Detection (10 credits), after allowance. You get 1000 checks for free for each 100k credits in your plan. For example, if you are on the 1 million credits plan, the first 10,000 checks are free.

    • Data API call (0.25 credits)

  • Embed requests from search engines no longer count as credits, potentially reducing usage by 30-40%. We believe this reduction should balance out the newly added credit events, potentially keeping your Hyvor Talk bill the same unless you use new features.

Changelog

2024-11-03: Comment counts embed and Akismet spam detection won’t record credits for websites created earlier than 2024-08-01 (Website ID less than 11658).
